Rita: Nothing happened Josh. Tell me about Cleo and Caesar. To help get your mind off things.(goes to comfort Josh)

Josh: Wel-well I found them dancing. They were so in tune and lovely, perfect like. You could see the love pouring out from one another for each other, and then they were so different. Julius this unbelieving idiot who did anything for everything he wants. And she just put it up with it. It was like watching my parents, before the incident. Jacob wanted to disown me, to just get rid of me. Because I wasn't good enough in that bloody man's eyes. Mom was the only one who loved me.

Rita: Josh. I–

Josh: Then things went down hill then.

Rita: (more intently) Josh.

Josh: (looking at nothing, slowly remembering) He was drunk, came swaggering towards my pathetic little existence with a knife. Beat me up, threatened to kill me. Then dropped the knife from his bloodied hand, and we played darts, my head the target. Always just missing by inches. Thwack… Thwack… Thwack. And then my mom… (hangs head)

Rita: Joshua! Look at me, Lookit me! That's past, no longer existent. You don't have to face that no more. And in this world, you don't have to worry about Jacob. All you have to do is take off that helmet, and then you'll be here, you and me, together. No more worry.

Josh: It can't be that simple, it just can't be.

Rita: Yes it can.

(Rita slowly tries to remove the helmet, as if trying to coax a frightened animal. Before she can remove it, Bobby, dressed as a soldier, runs on stage)

Bobby: What are you still doing here?

Josh: Bobby?

Bobby: We have to hurry, the end times are near.

Rita: End times?

Josh: What's going on?
